This weekend my niece Izzy and I had a girls night, which included nails, facials, and of course some boy talk. After doing a lot of research on different types and recipes of facials, I settled on two that I thought would be best for our skin types. Even though Izzy is young and may have perfect skin, she has a bit of dry skin mostly on her cheeks. So for her we chose an all natural face mask that would replenish her skin with moisture. We used a banana and whole milk mask. For myself I wanted something that would make my skin glow, and take off some dead skin that I have. I found an all natural honey mask and it worked phenomenally.
Banana/Whole Milk Recipe: One ripe banana, and 1/4c of whole milk. If you want a thicker mask, you can use half and half. Combine it all in a bowl and mash it, then apply to your face and let it sit for 15 mins. Wash it off with warm water, and then cold water to close your pores. Finally, apply your favorite moisturizer.
Honey Mask Recipe: 2 tablespoons of honey, 1 tablespoon of cinnamon, 1 tablespoon of nutmeg. Combine all ingredients into a bowl. This mixture will feel like a thick paste. Apply to your face with fingers, working it into your skin gently. Let it sit for 30 min, then wash off with warm water using a circular motion, the cinnamon and nutmeg work as a natural exfoliator for your skin, so be sure not to rub too hard. Once it’s all off rinse your skin with cold water then pat dry and apply your moisturizer.
Even though we didn’t get instant results, we did feel a difference in our skin when touching it. it was soft and smoother. With my mask, I focused on exfoliating in the areas I had extra dry and flaky skin, and I see a difference in those areas. Good luck and enjoy a nearly free spa day soon!
